| FR ADIH SHARING FOOD TO HIS GUESTS |
It
was awesome for some parishioners of St. Peter’s Parish Ikpa Ozuakoli and
beyond on the 5th of December 2017, as the parish priest of
the
named parish Rev. Fr. Adih Nicodemus chose to brighten the faces of the
sick, aged,
poor and indigents in the parish and beyond. Many of them came from
Osina,
Obodoukwu, Ntueke etc. to be beneficiaries of this pastoral initiative.
The forum reporter gathered that many of these people have been
abandomed for years, and many have not had the opportunity to attend to
sacraments for a long time. Fr. Adih Nicodemus did this to remind them
that God is still alive even
in their depressing situations. This kindly gesture was concretized with
an
epithet “CHIM DI NDU” that summarized God’s quintessence, a pointer to
the presence
of God in their lives, notwithstanding the predicaments they might be
going
through; boldly inscribed at the back of polo shirts, which the generous
Priest
gave them freely to give the celebration a distinctive colour.

| IN A MOMENT OF PRAYER |

This was really practical Christianity at its peak, for the
ebullient pastor chose not just Catholics, not just his parishioners but
Christians from any denomination and parishes around who were willing to join
the celebration. The event of the day featured the mass, anointing of the sick,
sacramental confessions and heavy refreshment. The sacramental confession was
for the Catholics, which gave many who have not gone for confession for years,
an opportunity to taste the beauty of this sacrament again. This was followed
by the Holy Mass.
In his homily, Fr Adih Nicodemus highlighted the major aim
of such gathering; which according to him was to remind them God’s consistent
benignity and existence even in their precarious situations; God is still alive,
He consistently exclaimed. The gathering according to him was to prove to them
that they are still remembered not forgotten. The aim was simply to make them
laugh again, and for those who have not received Holy Communion to attend to
the sacrament again. He finally prayed
for God’s blessings and healing on them.
Anointing of the sick and heavy refreshments trailed the
Eucharistic celebration. That notwithstanding, Fr. Adih Nicodemus put the
celebration to tail with some food items which he shared among his guests. He
also conveyed them in a car to their different homes after the gala day. It was
really a gesture of love and generosity, as they went home wild with joy,
pouring encomiums and blessings on the Parish Priest.
